• ‘Among His signs is that He created for you spouses from among yourselves, that you might dwell in tranquility with them, and God has placed between you love and compassion. Surely in that there are signs for people who reflect.’ (Q al-Rum, 30:21)3

• ‘They [your wives] are your garment and you are their garment [for protection, comfort, confidentiality].’ (Q al-Baqarah, 2:187)4

• ‘Whoever does good, whether male or female, and is a believer, We shall certainly make them live a good life, and We shall give them their reward for the best of what they have done.’ (Q al-Nahl, 16:97).5
